Thanks again to all who have come to
do volunteer food relief. A special thanks this week to the Lacey Church
who sent 40+ to Curtis in the Boistfort
Valley, even though it
was snowing. They got a lot done. And also to the Marine View
Church. They have
sent a group to the area every week since shortly after the flood. You
are all amazing.
I’d like to share a couple articles
from tonight’s paper. A group called Labor Helping Neighbor is in search
of volunteers for flood relief on Saturday in the Boistfort Valley,
helping farmers with extra work getting ready for the spring planting
season. They are trying to get a total of 185 volunteers, to work in
fields at four different locations. Volunteers are asked to meet at the
Baw Faw Grange at 9 a.m. this Saturday, April 26 and have boots and
gloves. The Grange is located at 995 Boistfort Road. The
organization will provide a sack lunch and work assignment and will hold a
barbeque at the grange at 4 p.m.
There are many other opportunities
for helping as well. We have one group coming from Puyallup, First. They will be helping
to put up sheet rock. Many families are in different stages of
work. Let me know if you will be coming and I will find you some work. My phone numbers are 360-748-7298 and 360-304-6337.
Any and all volunteers who have
helped with flood recovery are invited to a giant community thank-you banquet
on Tuesday, April 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Blue Pavilion at the Southwest
Washington Fairgrounds. You can RSVP by this Friday, April 25 by calling
360-741-2615 or by email to events@volunteer.ws.
I would also like to know how many
people from your church have come down to help out. Please respond to
this email with the number of people, which church and how many trips they have
taken. Thanks so much. Joyce
