Ministerial ambassador program
Ministerial ambassador program
Rev. and Mrs. Nkhoma are in the United States participating in a Ministerial Ambassador Program with the Presbytery of Olympia from January through June 2009.  They completed month-long stays with Westminster Presbyterian Church in Chehalis, Washington; Kelso and Longview; and are currently at Skyline in Tacoma. While here, they have been interacting with many people and organizations speaking on behalf of the Partnership between the Synod of Livingstonia and the Presbytery of Olympia which was put in place to nurture Christian relationships and to help develop the University of Livingstonia.  They are also sharing their family story and Rev. Nkhoma’s 30 year ministry with the Synod of Livingstonia.

Mariya and Matiya have been enthusiastically involved in church and community activities (a summary of their stay is attached) and we have enjoyed having them in our home since their arrival in Washington State on 22 December 2008.  They have endured cold weather, snow and flooding in our area – all typical events in Western Washington during our winter months.  While here, they have kept informed about the state of the American economy which continues to decline amidst various “recovery” plans and expressed hope for the future of our nation.  Americans are resilient people and we have faith that, with the help of God, this situation will turn around. It will take time.  They also have witnessed (by television coverage) the inauguration of the 44th President of the United States, President Barack Obama whose leadership promises changes in many areas.  Whether or not Mr. Obama was our choice, Americans come together as a united body to support the leader of our nation.
