CTS announces new continuing education offerings

Group project applications are being accepted through September 28 for participation in Columbia Theological Seminary’s S3 (Sabbath, Study and Service) Project. S3 offers small, self-selected groups of clergy and other church professionals the opportunity to design and participate in learning projects that strengthen their practice of ministry. Groups will receive $500 per person to fund their self-directed group work. Participants must attend two retreats: February 2-4, 2010, at the beginning of their year-long project and another at the conclusion in February 2011. Applications are due not later than September 28, 2009.  For additional information, please see the complete brochure and application.

July 27-29 Reclaiming Congregational Song (Summer Scholars 2009) July 15 is the deadline to register – discount for two or more participants from same congregation. Learn practical, musical, and pastoral ways to help members and leaders of congregations  reclaim or cultivate their own musicianship. On-campus housing is full.

 

Aug. 21-22 - Youth Ministry Leadership Initiative Know Where to Turn When the Youth Turn to You led by Skip Johnson, UMC pastor, former youth leader, and CTS adjunct professor of pastoral theology and care and director.


Aug. 29 – The Earth, the New Creation and the Church’s Witness sponsored by the Center for Lifelong Learning and Earth Covenant Ministries of the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta.

 

September 17-20 Certificate in Spiritual Formation Worship and Spirituality In this seminar, we will explore how the embodied practices of word, sacraments, prayer, music, and movement shape our relationships with God, the world, and one another.

 

Sept. 22-24 - Strengthening Rural Ministry Conference 2009 Rural Ministry Today: Retooling the Toolbox designed for those engaged in rural/small church ministry – keynotes, worship and workshops with your context in mind.

 

October 9-11 YMLI (Youth Ministry Leadership Initiative) Beginning Retreat   encourages participants to ask important questions about their particular call to youth ministry and youth ministry as a whole. 

 

October 1-4 Certificate in Spiritual Formation Immersion Experience: An Invitation to a Deeper Spiritual Life  This course is the starting place for the Certificate in Spiritual Formation. Occasional students are welcome.


Save the Date:  January 26-28 January Seminars Emergence NOW  featuring speakers and workshop leaders Bruce Reyes-Chow, Philip Clayton, Phyllis Tickle, Tony Jones; Barbara Brown Taylor will preach two services.  Additional information/registration will be open not later than Aug. 1, 2009.
