Haiti earthquake responses An earthquake devastated
much of the country Tuesday afternoon, January
12, killing tens of thousands, injuring countless others and causing billions
of dollars of property damage.
From Rev. Steve Klump: Our response should include prayer for the victims as
well as a more material response. There are many ways to send money to the
stricken nation, including through the Presbyterian Disaster
Assistance program. The website for the Presbyterian Church (USA) has some
articles about this disaster at this link. The Presbytery of Olympia may be sending a mission team later in the spring. If you are interested, contact Rev. Steve Klump at presbyter@toledotel.com
Donations can be sent through the Presbytery of Olympia or through your local
congregation directly to Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, project DR000064. If
you use a check to Presbytery of Olympia, be sure to indicate on your check
that the donation is for this particular disaster. You can also make donations
on-line by credit card through the Sound View Camp website.
PDA is rushing an initial $100,000 from One Great Hour of Sharing and
designated funds to help provide immediate emergency relief to the affected
people. Funds are being sent through our ecumenical and local partners
working in Haiti. For more information on the PDA response, read more. For
information on PC(USA) mission workers in Haiti, read more
