Olympia Presbytery Stated Meeting Recap

Meeting Recap-Stated Meeting June 1st

At the stated meeting of Olympia Presbytery on Saturday, June 1, 2024, we were welcomed to worship in the sanctuary by Moderator Robin Crawford. We welcomed visitors, Jeanie Shaw, Presbyterian Mission Agency, Rob Clark, candidate for ordination, and Daniel Herron, GA observer. Worship included a message by Pastor Sue Watkins and the commissioning of the following delegates to the General Assembly: TE Tammy Stampfli and RE Dan Evans of Lakewood. David Ammons, Daniel Herron, Glen Ferguson, and EP Shari Jackson Monson will also serve our presbytery at the 226th GA. Robin shared about the Olympia Overture. You can sign up to be an observer HERE

TE Sue Watkins and TE Irvin Porter officiated at the Table, then we were given instructions regarding the lunch made by the Church of the Indian Fellowship. We enjoyed their Indian tacos and delicious desserts.

After lunch we chose to attend one of the two Open Space Conversations . (The Board of Pensions 2025 Plan Changes was moved to June 14 at 3 pm and June 18. More information is online.) Rev. Jeanie Shaw introduced the Presbyterian Mission Agency in the sanctuary. Hagar’s and Underground Ministries led a discussion in the Fellowship Hall.

As the business section resumed, Candidate Rob Clark read his statement of faith, was examined, and prayed over as he was called by our presbytery. Deanna Gemmer and Dexter Kearny presented a MOU between Hagar’s and Underground Ministries, which was approved by the presbytery. On behalf of the Leadership Council and Trustees, Aaron Stewart presented the Thriving Culture Project. The new business involved sharing a plan from Leadership Council to restructure Olympia Presbytery for the support of congregations and clergy. We ended our time together with worship, rejoicing that God has a plan.
