This full-time position requires leading worship, regular preaching, and fostering faith formation within a Matthew 25 congregation. In collaboration with lay leaders, they will achieve the church's mission of welcoming all, community service, and social justice. The pastor will also provide pastoral care, inspire active volunteerism and nurture evolving ministries, like the congregation’s donation of two acres to support affordable housing and neighborhood engagement.

Looking for a 20-hour-a-week Director of Child and Youth Christian Education who will enjoy developing and supporting the overall Christian educational ministry of Bethany Presbyterian Church with a specific focus on children and youth, infancy through grade 12.

Successful applicants will have a bachelor’s degree and experience in Christian education, communications, or related field and a minimum of two years’ experience working independently and collaboratively, teaching children from infancy to twelfth grade. Applicants must also have a vibrant Christian faith that is open and affirming of all God’s children and have participated in and been a part of a Christian community.

Weekend and evening hours are to be expected.

Longview Presbyterian Church 

Scope of work: Part time position September through May. Work with the pastor and worship committee to select anthem(s) from the church library, rehearse evenings and direct the church choir one Sunday per month. 

Desired knowledge and skills:

Musical training and/or directing experience.

Sensitivity to choral music as a spiritual aid to worship.

Good references; well groomed.

Compensation:

$25 per hour for up to 10 hours per month.

This role oversees a dynamic and evolving ministry serving children (birth-5th grade) and youth (6th-12th grade). Currently, there are 15 youth on the rolls, with about 5 attending weekly programs, and 20 children, with about 4 actively involved each week. The ministry is supported by a team of 4-5 dedicated parent volunteers and elders, and enjoys ample facilities, including a youth house and an entire floor of the education building. This position is all about nurturing relationships, empowering volunteers, and creating engaging, Christ-centered programs that help kids and families grow together in faith.
